So, here’s our AC DC story. A contractor was laying new flooring in a Mechanical Extremes customer’s home. He was surprised at how comfortable the owner’s home was, considering where the thermostat was set. The owner thought he knew why. He told the contractor about the Mechanical Extremes installation. His new system included a DC motor to operate the fan. A DC motor can run continuously, as this owner’s HVAC fan does. That circulates the air and tends to eliminate cold spots in the winter or hot spots in the summer regardless of whether the HVAC is heating or cooling.
If you have a DC furnace motor, consider running the fan continuously to improve your home comfort. If you have an AC fan motor, it’s possible to run it for shorter periods, but not a good idea to run it all the time. Why? DC motors can handle the constant load, but AC motors need a break.

You probably figured it out by now. The photo used in the email invite was not AC-DC, but an outstanding local band called Sonic Fury. The photo was taken at a performance at Clark Lake last summer.
