Once a year, Mechanical Extremes closes the doors, and the whole crew takes the day off. Why? The Annual Mechanical Extremes Golf Outing. All headed to the Lake LeAnn Golf Course for 18 holes of fun. But it was more than a round of golf.
The entourage divided into four groups of four to play the “best ball scramble.” Though the Mechanical Extremes team is top of class in the HVAC world, not all are accomplished golfers. More on that in a minute. But first, let’s talk about the winners who managed low score counts.
Each in the first-place team won a $50 Visa gift card. Each in the second-place team, a $25 card.
So, what happened to the not-so-great golfers? The player who swung but missed the ball the most won the Mr. Whiffer title and received a package whiffle balls. When the golf ball is hit but never leaves the ground, it’s called a worm burner. Turns out someone won that award, too—multiple packages of gummy worms, all in colors of the rainbow. A ball that is hit but curves right or left is called a slice. What did that person win? A gift card to Klavon’s placed inside a pizza package for slices you can eat. Did someone lose a golf ball? Yep, you guessed it. The prize was a package of neon orange golf balls.
To top it off, Harold and Stacey Wilkes presented the awards at a catered dinner at the golf course. Lots of smiles and laughter showed those who were leery of chasing a small white ball around the course had nothing to fear.
This was year ten for the Mechanical Extremes golf outing. Why do it? Harold and Stacey like the idea of getting the group together outside of work to enjoy a good time, and to salute a team who everyday reestablishes its excellence on behalf of customers (even if their golf game could use some work).
